Christina Ito, an interpreter from the Philippines who lives in Japan, supports non-Japanese children whose educational opportunities are limited. She holds free Japanese language classes and even helps them interact with local government. In response to its declining population, Japan is accepting more foreign workers than ever before. As a result, an increasing number of families are coming to Japan from overseas, but many of their children lack the Japanese skills necessary to enter high school. Unable to overcome the language barrier and with no measures in response to their needs, they are not given the chance to carve out a future for themselves. The documentary raises questions about Japan's education system, through a heartfelt exchange between the children and the Filipino interpreter who works hard to open doors for them.
